City to Keep Building Inspection Roads in Jakarta

The city administration is building inspection roads in some areas in Jakarta this year. Among those areas are in Sentiong River, Kemayoran, Central Jakarta, and some areas that pass the West Canal Flod (BKB), Mookevart, and Daan Mogot, West Jakarta.

It is targeted to be completed this year. But its construction will be conducted gradually due to lack of the flat

Acting Jakarta Governor, Basuki 'Ahok' T Purnama disclosed that the project will be carried out gradually. "It is targeted to be completed this year. But its construction will be conducted gradually due to lack of the flat," he said, at City Hall, Tuesday (6/10).

He stated the city administration needs more flats to accommodate citizens living around the riverbank and dam affected by inspection road project.

"Through inspection road project, we can minimize flooding and traffic congestion," he expressed.

He uttered citizens relocation would be conducted after flat construction is completed in upcoming August.

"We have long and repeatedly socialize about inspection road project to people living in riverbanks and dams. Sometimes they claimed there is no socialization and insisted to stay until causing flooding. That's why we decided to build inspection roads after making a deal island reclamation obligations," he told.

He asserted his party will not selective in controlling illegal buildings on the riverbanks and dams.

"We'll control the illegal buildings without compensation," stressed Basuki.
